Immersing Yourself in an Entrepreneurial Experiential Learning and Strategic Thinking Weekend!

The purpose of this weekend was for people to “Learn how to think, work and build like a startup in 54 thrilling hours.”  Techstars Startup Weekend in Fairbanks, hosted by the Alaska Center for Innovation, Commercialization and Entrepreneurship, was an exciting and immersive foray into the world of startups. Between Friday, Feb. 17, at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 6:30pm, folks participated in an action-packed three days. There were mentors, investors, co-founders and sponsors to advise on how to get more done faster — and, maybe even start that business. This event was for everyone, whether you have been mulling over a possible business idea in your head or are not quite sure what a startup is. You didn’t need to have formal business education. The organizing team, sponsors and Techstars Facilitator were excited to have community members and students attend.

I was asked to be a judge at UAF this past weekend and the grand prize was $4500 and connections nationally to take the winning idea to market. I was honored to be able to attend this event and share about Reentry in Fairbanks and Alaska.
